What is Acid Staining?

It is a chemical process whereby acid stain is applied to cured concrete to produce permanent, variegated or translucent color effects. The acid stain will lightly etch and penetrate new or existing concrete to chemically form insoluble color precipitates into the concrete. This process occurs IN -not ON TOP OF the concrete. Only by wearing down or reducing the surface of the concrete will the color stain fade or diminish. The acidic stain produces uneven, translucent color effects like the shadings of natural stone and marble. The final color is dependant on the chemical composition and age of the concrete as well the application techniques and many other factors. No two jobs are ever alike as each job is unique with its own properties and characteristics. Some of its benefits are that it will not crack, chip, fade or peel up like most concrete paints. It works equally well on both new and old concrete offering unlimited artistic and visual shadings and hues.

It does not detract from the durability of the concrete and adds color and character to ordinary plain concrete. Maintenance of an acid stained and sealed floor is simply mopping with warm water to keep your floor new and shiny looking. Areas of application include interior show room floors, restaurants, garage and warehouse floors, kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms. Acid staining is perfect for both commercial and residential scenarios. We work closely with architects, custom home builders and commercial building contractors making sure your concrete is prepared and cared for through the entire construction process. Our service area ranges within a 100-mile radius from downtown Houston. Areas of service include the Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange Triangle areas, Galveston, Huntsville and the Lake Jackson/Freeport area. We will, however, travel outside this service area for job applications 2,000 square feet and over.
